While working at the American Culture and Language Program at Cal State San Bernardino, Derrick collaborated with Dr. Fred Jandt (famous for his book, Win-Win Negotiating) on the second edition of Dr. Jandt's intercultural communications student workbook.
Derrick's formal education includes a B.A. in Latin American Studies with a Spanish minor, an M.A. in English Composition, and a J.D. degree.
Derrick enjoys reading fantasy and science fiction novels. He loves all sorts of humor and wrote his master's thesis on the subject of humor (entitled "A Gricean Analysis of a Situation Comedy").
